Everything you need to know about Fashion Takes Action’s runway show event.

BY
PEGGY SUE COLLECTION

WHO: Ethically minded fashion designers from across Canada, including Preloved, Peggy Sue Collection (winner of the recent TFI New Labels contest), Katrin Leblond and TMR Collection, along with Canadian non-profit Fashion Takes Action

WHAT: A showcase of the talented Canadians who are proving you don’t have to sacrifice style in order to produce ethically, pay fair wages, source sustainably and reduce waste.

WHERE: Artscape Sandbox (301 Adelaide St. W.) in Toronto

WHEN: Thursday, June 16 from 7–10PM (runway presentation at 9PM)

WHY: Since 2007, Fashion Takes Action has promoted awareness of the social and environmental impacts of the fashion industry, and has worked with more than 350 designers, brands and retailers to create a more conscious approach to consumption.

WHILE YOU’RE THERE: Take the “Green Carpet Challenge” and bring any unwanted clothing or textiles to be recycled by H&M. For every pound collected at Design Forward, the fast-fashion chain has vowed to donate $1 to Fashion Takes Action.

Click here to buy tickets ($35 for general admission, $25 for Fashion Takes Action members). After all, it’s about time green fashion got its due and chucked that “granola” stereotype into the compost bin!
